RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION GRANT OPPORTUNITIES

Recruitment and retention is hard work but thanks to a grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield New Mexico, the New Mexico Association for Home & Hospice Care has tools and grant funding to support personal care service agencies. NMAHHC has identified opportunities for agencies that research and evidence suggest improve both recruitment and retention of a qualified workforce. In addition, we have funding available for agencies who have great ideas to enhance their recruitment and retention efforts but don’t have the resources to get their ideas off the ground.

Family Friendly Grant

Employers often cite the cost of adopting family friendly policies to their businesses, but research has shown that costs for adding family friendly policies are more than made up for by higher productivity and reduced employee turnover. The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) estimates the average replacement cost of a salaried employee to be six to nine months’ salary.

Businesses that implement family friendly workplace policies can benefit from an improved ability to recruit more qualified employees, increase retention with higher employee engagement and loyalty and recognize higher profits from increased innovation and productivity.

NMAHHC personal care service member agencies who apply for a Family Friendly Award and receive a New Mexico Family Friendly Business Award recognition at the Silver (Rising Leader), Gold (Committed Leader), or Platinum (Distinguished Leader) level by September 30th 2022 will receive a $1,000 grant from the New Mexico Association for Home & Hospice Care to support the time, effort and attention the agency paid to implementing and promoting family friendly policies. Grants are first come, first served. Limited to 20 grants.

 Career Ladder Scholarship

Research indicates that career ladders can help with retention because employees can develop a sense of loyalty for employers who are willing to invest in them. We know that well-defined, clearly communicated pathways for advancement can encourage employee satisfaction and retention, especially among diverse and underrepresented workers.

To support agencies’ ability to provide career advancement opportunities for their personal care worker, the New Mexico Association for Home and Hospice Care is offering full scholarship for Certified Nursing Assistant trainings. Limit 1 per agency, 30 scholarships available. NMAHHC will reimburse agencies for the cost of the CNA training.
